Australian Communities was founded by disability sector professional River Night.
After working in the sector for over two decades, River recognised the lack of consistency within and between service providers as well as the frustration of staff, participants and business operators.
To solve this problem, River applied his own experience in disability, mental health, education, youth detention and child safety to create a model which would help others set and maintain better standards.
River and his team now act as consultants to the disability services sector, while also providing direct support services for participants who require supported independent living options in Australia.
Creating a disability services sector we can all be proud of.
In the past, disability sector operators, their clients and their staff have been frustrated by a lack of consistency, transparency and systemised workflow.
Australian Communities has a vision for a future where these businesses provide better service and become a better place to work, meaning they are sought after as a provider of choice.
To achieve this, we provide a contemporary model and a consulting service which helps improve outcomes for NDIS participants, disability services staff and business owners within our industry.
We value the following:
With more than 22 years in Disability, Mental Health, Education, Child Safety, Youth Justice, Quality Systems and Forensic Settings in Government and Non-Government Sectors, as well as lived experience of disability, River Night is an expert in raising the bar and helping 24/7 NDIS Funded Participants.
River has spent two decades supporting participants living with disability, mental illness and complex behaviour, and working with participants who require coordination of a variety of stakeholders including Statutory Agencies.
By applying his own experience in disability, mental health, education, youth detention and child safety, River helps others to set and maintain better standards for the disability sector.
He also brings expertise in licensing, forensic disability support, government and non-government roles to his position as a consultant and disability services industry leader.
